Easter Dresses

I'm in love with Emily and Ava Jane's Easter dresses!  Zoie and I made them up in Midway during spring break.  This is the left-over material that was used for the lamp shades for the Door and Trim shop.  So, it was free.

Mikado Costumes from Nov 2010

 I finally have a few photos of the costumes I did for The Mikado.  Here's Amy in one of her showcase outfits.

 The beautiful Shelley when she had curly hair.

 The Mikado which the director interpreted as an Elvis type.

 Gotta love the blue suede shoes that he spray painted himself.

 Pooh-Ba was so funny.  His character is the Lord High everything.

 Ko-Ko was our main lead.  He was dressed like the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.  I'll show a better pic later so you can see the costume in full.  Loyd wore it for Halloween as well.

 The Taiko Dancers loved their outfit because the gold stretch lame pants were so awesome!

 The pants were a bit like the 80's parachute pants.  They took on a life of their own.  So funny, but a bit warm.  Lame doesn't breathe.

 Nanki-Poo, the wandering minstrel was great.  I thought his outfit looked a bit Mexican restaurant worker though.

 The evil Katisha stole the show.  Her outfit was a bit in progress when the pics were taken.

 Her collar was like Malificent in Sleeping Beauty.  Very difficult for it to stay up when attached to a Kimono.

More Mikado pics later.  It was a big show.  No wonder it's taken me this long to post pictures.

Prom Dresses

 I added 6" sleeves with material from another dress...they bought two.   And the invisible zipper was taken in about 1" in the back.  This was my favorite color of Prom dress that I saw come through my house.  Beautiful tall girl.

 This also got the 6" sleeves added and then criss crossed in the back.  I didn't like the fabric at first, but then it grew on me.  It was very feathery and the cute gal had some feathery stuff in her hair also.  Very talented and adorable girl. 

 This was the easiest one.  I just hemmed the bottom with invisible thread and brought the train up into a pinch-n-twirl flower.  I tacked the flower down with the machine.  Love this girl so much, she has everything going for her.

 This light green dress got the most modest prize from me.  I didn't have to put sleeves on, just hem it about 5 inches.  I gave it a rolled hem and there were two slips also to hem.  Cute, petite brunette girl.

This pink one is from November, that I didn't post before.  Just wanted to show a different color sleeve added.  Pink and brown, one of my favorites.  The shoes really did match better than they are shown.  Sweet sixteen party.  Beautiful girl inside and out.

One other dress was for a very short, petite girl.  I took it in and hemmed it while she was here, so I didn't take a photo.  It was black tiered material all down to the hem.  Like 15 rows.  The bodice had a stretch material that was tan showing through black lace.  I took up the shoulders, took in the sides, tacked down the front where it crossed over, and hemmed it about 5".  It was probably the most comfortable dress at the prom.  I'm getting much better with the stretch, it used to be very difficult.  The key is to use the correct needle.

A Few Alterations

Here are a few alterations from this month:  Big black elastic for a broom skirt, inverted pleat for a skirt slit, and adding a few inches and trim to a trendy skirt.
